Folded Plate Stair

Center stringer with folded plate treads for a private residence in Manhattan. Caliper Studio carried out the design by Shelton Mindel and Associates. In its final state the stair is painted and appears as solid steel without any visible fasteners or weld seams. The stringer is composed of (3) 7/8″ thick water jet cut plates welded and ground smooth on site. Treads and landing plates are 3/8″THK.
